Living in Chico during the month of October offers some great treats. If fact, we love living in Chico during the entire fall season so much that we’ve decided to celebrate by giving away treats to one of our favorite coffee houses, Bidwell Perk. You can be entered to win one of (4) $25 gift cards to Bidwell Perk simply by subscribing to our blog to the right. Once you confirm your subscription you will be entered into the drawing. If you are already subscribed to our blog, don’t worry – You are automatically entered! The contest will run Wednesday, October 10 through Tuesday October 16. We’ll pick a winner on October 16.
We hope you win, but even if you don’t, we encourage you to take a few moments to experience the best treats living in Chico during the fall season has to offer:
1. Enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Bidwell Perk
If you’ve been living in Chico for any amount of time, no doubt you’ve heard of Bidwell Perk, a local coffee house that is one of the best community gathering spots. Bidwell Perk has a special drink menu for each season, and we highly recommend treating yourself to a pumpkin spice latte, and yes, with whipped cream. When you go to Bidwell Perk, you’ll find yourself welcomed by the friendly staff, served a great tasting beverage, and sitting in a warm atmosphere where you can open a good book, chat with a close friend, or listen to the low hum of chatter around you.
2. Take in Fall Colors
Living in Chico offers eye candy in the form of leaves changing color all around us. Whether you take a stroll through Bidwell Park, drive up and down the Esplanade or take a short trip up Highway 32 or the Skyway, the reds, oranges, yellows, browns and golds are worth noticing.
3. Pick Out a Pumpkin at TJ Farms Pumpkin Patch
This 15 acre family owned farm is a popular place for families living in Chico and the surrounding areas to visit. It offers a down-home country feel with beautiful grounds to pick out the perfect pumpkin. Families can enjoy hay rides (on the weekends), a hay bale obstacle course, feeding farm animals, a country store, and a picnic under the old walnut trees. Admission and parking is free.
4. Attend an Artobertfest Event
Did you know that Chico is called America’s #10 art town by author John Villani in his book “The Best 100 Small Art Towns in America”? Artoberfest celebrates the art and culture that living in Chico has to offer. The month-long festival offers more than 100 exhibits, concerts, art fairs, and other performances including literature, poetry dance, film, theater, and more.
We’d love to hear about your experience if you treated yourself to any of the above. Leave us a comment and let us know, or tell us about why you love living in Chico in the fall.
