If you live in Chico, then you're in luck. We have several different events coming up that will prepare you for the holidays. We might not get snow here in Chico, but we still like to celebrate the holidays that happen in the winter time. ## Downtown Chico Ice Rink [Chico Ice Rink](https://www.downtownchico.com/event-chico-ice-rink-in-the-plaza_606.htm) in the Plaza is back for the '22/'23 winter season! Opening night is Thursday November 17th, and you can skate all the way until January 9th. For details and hours click [here](https://www.downtownchico.com/event-chico-ice-rink-in-the-plaza_606.htm). General admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children, and you can even rent ice skates! There are also warm drinks and snacks available.  ## Christmas Preview Do you hear what I hear? Yup that’s right [Christmas Preview](https://www.downtownchico.com/event-christmas-preview_14.htm) is November 20th from 4 to 8 p.m. This annual event is held downtown amongst the local stores that begin decorating for Christmas. Take souvenir photos, enjoy hot coffee and treats, participate in Christmas Karaoke, donate toys to the Santa’s Sleigh Toy Drive, and more!  ## Run For Food This is the 17th annual Run for Food event that happens on Thanksgiving Day in our very own Bidwell Park. This fundraiser raises money for the Jesus Center to help give local families hope in their time of need. To find out more information on the race or to register visit [Run for Food](http://www.runforfood.com/).  ## Small Business Saturday While you're living in Chico, you probably have noticed that we like our small businesses. To help support those local small businesses, we encourage you to participate in [Small Business Saturday](https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/small-business-saturday/). On November 26th, people across the nation are being challenged to shop locally for just one day to help change our local economy. This is a great opportunity to try new places while getting all of your errands done on one day. ## Christmas Tree Lighting Do you enjoy looking at your Christmas tree in the corner of your apartment? Then you don’t want to miss the lighting of a 60 foot tall tree in the plaza! The [Community Christmas Tree Lighting](https://www.explorebuttecounty.com/events/virtual-community-tree-lighting) is on December 2nd and starts at 6 p.m. It includes a musical program and a visit from Santa Claus. So grab your planner and cup of coffee and start planning the festivities today! Are you looking for a new apartment this holiday season? Then check out Hignell Rentals, we have [Chico apartments](https://www.hignellrentals.com/) that will suit all of your needs to make apartment searching easy and quick.    Share this Blog [![Share on facebook](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/facebook-icon.svg) ](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/fun-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook) [![Share on twitter](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/twitter-icon.svg) ](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/fun-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/fun-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&source=tweetbutton&text=) [![Share on instagram](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/instagram-icon.svg) ](http://www.instagram.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/fun-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram) [![Share on linkedin](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/linkedin-icon.svg) ](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/fun-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin) [![Share on whatsapp](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/whatsapp-icon.svg) ](https://web.whatsapp.com) [** Previous Post Previous Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-make-a-rental-living-pros-and-cons-list) [** View all posts ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/) [Next Post ** Next Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/6-things-to-be-thankful-for-when-living-in-apartments) ## Recent Posts [![How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/How%20to%20Rent%20an%20Apartment%20in%20Chico%20or%20Redding%2c%20CA.jpg) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) ### [How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA Click to view How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [Learn More ** Click to view blog post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [![What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/What%20to%20Look%20for%20When%20Renting%20an%20Apartment%20Your%20Apartment%20Comparison%20Checklist.png) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) ### [What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist Click to view What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) Knowing what to look for when renting an apartment can make the difference between moving forward with...
