Of course you can always stay in your Chico rental properties and enjoy the wonderful air conditioner, but this can also [spike up your energy bill](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/energy-saving-tips-to-try-in-chico-rental-properties). If you want some fun and energy savings, maybe it's time for you to go outside and try something new in Chico in the summertime! ## 1.  Chico Observatory One of the best ways to beat the heat is to be mindful of what activities you are doing during the day outside and which ones you are doing outside at night time. If you need something to do at night, then check out the [Chico Observatory](https://www.facebook.com/ChicoCommunityObservatory/). With our clear nights in Chico, you are able to gaze at the different stars with a really cool telescope and learn a thing or two about space all while doing something that will help you stay cool. ## 2.  Farmers' Market Oh yeah, Chico is known for our Farmers' Markets but going to the [Thursday Night Market ](https://www.downtownchico.com/event-thursday-night-market_16.htm)might not be a great way to beat the heat. However, there is always the [Saturday Farmers' Market](https://www.chicofarmersmarket.com/) that starts at 7:30 am so you can get your outside shopping done when it is still a tolerable temperature. ## 3.  Forebay Aquatic Center Do you want to try a new water activity but don’t have the money to purchase the equipment? Well then the [Forebay Aquatic Center](https://www.forebayaquaticcenter.com) is the place for you! You can rent kayaks, canoes, wet suits and more! Spend your afternoon on Lake Oroville while mastering your technique on the water. ## 4.  Disc Golf Try this fun sport while enjoying the shade of Chico’s gorgeous trees. Around Chico, you can find several different [disc golf courses](https://theorion.com/56718/sports/where-to-find-disc-golf-courses-in-chico-and-paradise/) or places where you can play. Go to Play It Again Sports and purchase a used disc and get ready for some fun!  ## 5.  Enjoy Bidwell Park [Bidwell Park](http://ccnaturecenter.org/bidwell-park-home/explore-the-park/park-maps/) seems like it lasts forever and what does that mean for you? It means that you can find places along the river where you can have a picnic, read a book and swim without having a lot of people around distracting you while you are trying to relax. ## 6.  Tubing Another activity that is popular in Chico is [tubing](http://localwiki.net/chico/Tubing). Are you tired of tubing the Sacramento River? Then grab your tube and try Butte Creek. But remember, every tubing experience is different. Be prepared with sunscreen and take plenty of water to keep you hydrated. This is just a short list of the things that you can do when you live in Chico rental properties. ## Search Hignell Rentals if You're Looking for a Great Chico Apartment At Hignell Rentals, we want you to find a place you can call home.
