farmers marketAfter you've settled into your apartments in Chico California, it's time for you to become a Chicoan. Picture this: Walking downtown amongst the Chico locals and soaking in the culture. Be aware of all the colors that you see from the fresh strawberries to the paint from a local street artist. The Farmers' Market in Chico California is full of not only food, but fun activities, art and more to entertain everyone.

What You Will Find

The Farmers' Market is a place where you can buy local vegetables, fruits, nuts, clothes and more. It is a great way to learn about your city’s culture because you will not only see the different types of food and drink that it has to offer, but you'll get to meet other locals as well. Chico is surprisingly full of rich farm land which is nurtured by the Chico heat. This farm land is able to grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables. What This Looks Like

These local goodies are presented in individual booths to give farmers and local vendors the opportunity to expand their business. If you are wanting to find sweet peaches for a pie you are making this weekend or find a summer dress to help you survive the Chico heat, then you will find it at the Farmers' Market. There is always a good flow of people enjoying the market so there is never a dull moment in Downtown Chico!

When You Go

There are three different times that you can go to the market. There is the Thursday Night Market and the Chico Certified Farmers' Market that happens on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The locations for both the Thursday and Saturday Market are downtown where you can find ample parking.

  • The Thursday Night Market begins at 6 p.m. and will give you food, shopping and entertainment until 9 p.m. during the warmer months (April-September) of the year on Broadway from 2nd-4th Street.
  • The Saturday morning market takes place in the City of Chico Municipal Parking Lot at 2nd and Wall Street from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. year around, rain or shine.
  • The Wednesday morning market takes place in the North Valley Plaza Mall Parking Lot on Pillsbury Road (adjacent to Trader Joe's) 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. year around, rain or shine.

So you get to choose which market time works the best for you!

So now that you know one of the local popular pastimes in town, it's time to experience it yourself! Invite some friends and head downtown to take in the culture of Chico that we are sure you will love. These Farmers' Markets will make you fall in love living in your new apartments in Chico California.
