Summer is unofficially coming to an end, and all the students from preschool to college are going back to school soon, if they haven't already. Although this is a bummer for most of the kids out there, have no fear! There are still fun things going on in Chico that can help you get out of the back to school blues. So in order to turn that frown upside down, here are 18 things to do in August and September while Living in Chico.
Concerts
- Friday Night Concerts: Don’t forget that every Friday night from 7:30pm-9pm until September 9th there is a concert at City Plaza in Downtown Chico. Bring your lawn chair and listen to some live tunes.
- Karaoke Night: Every Monday night down at Madison Bear Garden (located in Downtown Chico) from 9pm until closing you can sing your heart out or laugh with your friends listening to others try karaoke.

Markets
- Thursday Night Market: Every Thursday night from 6pm-9pm until September 29th come visit us at Downtown Chico for a variety of vendors from homemade trinkets to fresh produce to food trucks!
- Saturday Farmers Market: Each Saturday, no matter the time of year, come out to Wall Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street in Downtown Chico from 7am-1pm for your pick of fresh foods and homemade things.
- Wednesday Mornings: Don't want to wake up early on a Saturday? No worries, there's also a Farmers Market every Wednesday morning from 7:30am-1pm on Pillsbury Road adjacent to Trader Joe’s.
- Taste of Chico: The most popular event for all of us Chicoans. This year it's on September 25th from 12pm-4pm. Check out the website to get more information on buying tickets (tickets are required to attend).
Events
- Unknown Coast Weekend: Feel like biking all weekend up and down the coast? Then you should sign up for this bike trip happening from September 17th at 7am to September 18th at 6pm. Meet at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.
No matter what you have going on in these next couple of months don’t forget to make plans to go outside and hang out with friends and family to keep up your spirits instead of being sad that school has once again descended upon us.
