Now that it is spring, most apartment dwellers take this time to get their homes sparkly and clean. If you were consistent with normal, light cleaning on a twice a month basis then these tips shouldn’t be too daunting. But if you haven’t ever cleaned your apartment, then you might want to designate a full day to get your cleaning done. So put on some scrubby clothes, turn on some music and get ready to clean!
Declutter
First and foremost, you need to go through your entire apartment and really analyze if you need everything that you have accumulated. Create a trash, donate and sell online pile. Go to each of your rooms and see if you have anything that you can get rid of. This means go through your clothes, your mug cabinet, your toiletries, bedding etc. By decluttering and organizing your apartment, you will make the cleaning process easier.
The Big Stuff
After you have decluttered your apartment, it is time to move on to scrubbing and cleaning the big stuff. This includes the tub, toilet, sinks (kitchen and bathrooms), stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer. By starting with the large items, you are able to get good scrubbing started and then let your cleaner soak while you move on to the next big item.
Furniture and Small Appliances
Now that all of the big items are cleaned, move onto cleaning your furniture and small appliances. This includes couches, end tables, TV, entertainment center, bed, night stands, dressers, dining room tables, coffee maker, toaster, and book shelves. Dust, wipe down, vacuum, wash and/or wax these small appliances and pieces of furniture. These things can easily pick up dust!
Windows
Properly cleaning the windows can be a pain but can liven up your apartment during the springtime. Start by wiping down/scrubbing the window seals. Then wipe down each individual blind. This is where you will spend most of your time on the windows. But to ensure that you have wiped off all of the dust, doing it piece by piece is best. When the blinds are clean, clean the glass.
Ceiling Fans
If you are constantly using your ceiling fans, then it is easy to forget to clean them. Before you do this, take the light fixtures off and put them in the sink with hot soapy water, or you can run them through the dishwasher. Take the time to take off other fixtures that are found in the bathroom, kitchen, and patio and do the same thing. Back to cleaning the fan, dust and dirt collects on them even when they are on. It is important to clean the blades of the fan as well as the body of the fan.
Dust
Now that you have the majority of your apartment clean, move on to light dusting/polishing of the rest of your belongings. Having a nice sparkle and glow is never a bad way to start the spring.
Floors
To finish off your spring cleaning, you will sweep, mop and vacuum every inch of your apartment. This includes your living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and patio. Just wait until your floors are nice and squeaky clean!
See, it can be easy to clean apartments in Chico California, it just takes time and having an attention to detail. But remember how nice your apartment will look and even smell when it is clean. Then you can invite some friends over to show it off and host a small get together. Happy spring cleaning!
