If you have an extra bedroom that isn’t being used, what do you do with that extra space? It's common for apartment residents in Chico and Redding to use empty rooms as a guest bedroom, an office, or a storage room. But are you looking for something a little different? Do you want something that's a little out of the box but still a room that you would enjoy spending time in? Then check out these cool, out of the box ideas for your spare bedroom. ## [10 Better Ideas For Your “Spare Bedroom”](http://www.builddirect.com/blog/10-better-ideas-for-your-spare-bedroom/) Written by [Steffani Cameron](http://www.builddirect.com/blog/author/steffani-cameron/) You’re paying big bucks for that “spare bedroom” sitting there, wasting space. Sure, Aunt Martha might come visit from England, but why should you be forced to bankroll other people’s vacations by struggling to balance a bedroom with everything else you want to use the room for? When I was a kid, you were lucky if someone had a sleeper sofa you could crash on. This whole “everyone’s got extra bedrooms” fad seems the height of extravagance to me. I say *stop the silliness.* Bring back the functional room. Spare bedrooms are where dust bunnies thrive and clutter rules the roost. Get over the guilt regarding using your spare room for yourself. It’s not selfish. It’s living in all of the home that you own, that you pay for, and you maintain. Here are ways to reinvent your spare room so it’s all about you. 1. Puzzle Room What you need are comfy chairs, a decent table, good lighting, a magnifying glass, and a bunch of boxes of puzzles. The ultimate puzzle fan’s room! Get yourself a wide puzzle rack, or have one made, like those you see in kindergarten classes. This way, you can work on up to a couple dozen puzzles at a time! Perfect to while away the upcoming winter, and a great way to keep your mind sharp while you relax. ### [[Click here to read the rest of the article for the other 9 room ideas!](http://www.builddirect.com/blog/10-better-ideas-for-your-spare-bedroom/)] Whatever your apartment living experience offers you in Chico or Redding, we hope your spare bedroom is a place to have fun, relax and a space you look forward to coming home to.
