Thankfully, because you are living in Chico, you have so many good neighborhoods to choose from that have beautiful apartment complexes and rental properties for you to call home. Here are 3 things that you need to consider while you're in the process of choosing the right neighborhood for you. ## 1. Location, Location, Location If you think that you've found the right rental living situation for you, it's time to look at where the complex is located. Some questions to ask yourself: - How far is your commute to work/school? - How far are your favorite grocery stores? - How far are restaurants, **[malls](https://www.shopchicomarketplace.com/)**, etc? Convenience of location is always a good idea to think about especially when you're deciding if the amount of rent is worth it. There are people who live in Chico who do enjoy the commute to work or to their favorite restaurant but if you aren’t this type of person, then finding an apartment complex or rental property that is near your favorite hot spots is going to be in your best interest. ## 2. Crime Rates If you are concerned about crime happening in your neighborhood, you can subscribe to a website like [Neighborhood Scout](https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ca/chico/) where you get can updated information about specific crimes that have happened in and around the area you're considering. ## 3. Sounds & Odors It’s important for you to check the sounds and odors that can be found in your potential neighborhood. Whether it's the train that runs through Chico, the sounds of race night at the track or the smell of the brewery when the wind catches it just right, there are different things that you should be mindful of when choosing a neighborhood. Some of these things might not be a deal breaker for you but it's better to know before you decide to apply for the rental or to an apartment complex than to move and regret not knowing everything about your new neighborhood. Moving into a new rental living situation requires both a financial and emotional commitment. Make sure you're taking the time to choose the right neighborhood and the right area of town. ## Chico Rentals Check out our rental properties at Hignell Rentals.
