Living in Chico Event: S’mores at Sheridan Square + Gourmet Recipes

Creating Caring Communities is a non-profit that purposes to create communities within our properties that nurture relationships between the residents and the office staff. We want you to feel a sense of community when you move into one of our properties. In 6 of our properties, we have Care Teams that spend 15-20 hours a week organizing and planning activities, giving to fellow neighbors in need, or greeting people who are moving into the complex. These activities include costume contests, holiday treats and more!

Making S’mores at Sheridan Square

When I walked into the clubhouse of Sheridan Square, I was greeted by the friendly face of Amanda Moreno with a warm smile and a hand shake. Casey, her husband was short to follow. The s’more fixings caught my eye. There were different kinds of candy bars along with the traditional Hersey’s chocolate to accompany the graham cracker and marshmallow goodness.

Children were already enjoying the treats right when the event started. Smiles were all around and it wasn’t long until those smiles started to complain about stomach aches from eating so much sugar. Neighbors were chatting and wishing each other a Merry Christmas.

One might wonder how an event that serves s’mores might help the complex’s sense of community. But those 35 people who showed up enjoyed the company of their neighbors while enjoying a fun dessert to end the night. Now that is the type of community that everybody would love to live in.
