When you are looking at new apartments here in Chico, what are your must-haves? It will most likely include a pool, access to cool amenities, friendly staff and large bedrooms. What about having good neighbors? Wouldn’t it be nice if you lived in an apartment complex that valued building relationships with your neighbors? Have no fear, Living in Chico is here!
At several of our apartment complexes, we have an organization that plans monthly events to help build and nurture relationships among our residents. Creating Caring Communities is a non-profit organization that has Care Teams at 6 of our Living in Chico complexes. These Care Teams work 15-20 hours a week greeting new residents, and planning and running events on-site at each complex. These events include: s’mores night, bingo, pool party and more!
Milkshake Madness at 1661 Forest Ave.
Upon arrival at the clubhouse, there was already a long line that lead to the door. When I followed the line to the kitchen I was greeted by Bob and Lana Leahey. They are the Care Team for 1661 Forest Ave. and have been rockin’ it since January of 2015. Bob and Lana value the relationships they have with the residents of 1661, evident through the exchange of smiles and knowing them on a first-name basis.
There was a table full of different candies, sprinkles and fruit that the eager participates chose to put in their shakes. The line led to the kitchen where 3 blenders were blaring - but that didn’t stop the conversation or laughter.This event had a turnout of 60 people! The ice cream was flying and the milk pouring to create individual milkshakes that was made to their liking. Sounds delicious right?!
