The Farmers' Market is a place where you can buy local vegetables, fruits, nuts, clothes and more. It is a great way to learn about your city’s culture because you will not only see the different types of food and drink that it has to offer, but you'll get to meet other locals as well. Chico is surprisingly full of rich farm land which is nurtured by the Chico heat. This farm land is able to grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables. For a full list of popular treats and their corresponding seasons in which they are ripe, click here.
These local goodies are presented in individual booths to give farmers and local vendors the opportunity to expand their business. If you are wanting to find sweet peaches for a pie you are making this weekend or find a summer dress to help you survive the Chico heat, then you will find it at the Farmers' Market. There is always a good flow of people enjoying the market so there is never a dull moment in Downtown Chico!
There are three different times that you can go to the market. There is the Thursday Night Market and the Chico Certified Farmers' Market that happens on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The locations for both the Thursday and Saturday Market are downtown where you can find ample parking.
So you get to choose which market time works the best for you!
