As we emerge out of our winter hibernation into the glorious season of spring it's time for a fresh start and time to try new things. Trying not to think about the prospect of having to spring clean in the upcoming months? Best way to not think about it is to get out of your Chico apartment! But what is there to do when you're apartment living in Chico in the spring? You may already have a long list of activities planned or you might not have even thought about it yet, but either way we have some fun ideas you don't want to miss out on.

Wildflower Hike - Table Mountain

The North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve is a 3,300 acre elevated basalt mesa that is host to a huge variety of wildflower species. From February all the way through May you can find flowers in bloom on Table Mountain, but April is generally the peak of the wildflower bloom. There are 2 waterfalls on the reserve that flow for a while after the rains stop, but by late spring they slow down considerably. Access passes are required by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for anyone over 16 years of age. For more information and lots of pictures, check out this blog on Wildflower Hikes.

Upper Bidwell Park

One of Chico's greatest treasures is Bidwell Park. With 3,670 acres stretching almost 11 miles, Bidwell Park comes alive in the springtime. One of the most noticeable changes is in Upper Park, where wildflowers and grasses pop up in spring but only last for a short time before drying out in summer. Spring is a great time to get to Upper Park for a hike or bike ride. Check out this extensive list of Upper Park Trails.
