How to Find a Sense of Community at Apartments in Chico or Redding

Written by Hignell Rentals Team | July 28, 2019

Do you know the name of the neighbor that lives above you? Who owns the yappy dog in the next building over? Are you struggling to have relationships with people who live in your complex? If your apartment living situation in Chico or Redding is lacking a sense of community, here are a few ideas for social events to bring you closer to your neighbors.

Where Do You Begin?

If you have the social skills and time needed to organize a club or activity that meets once a month, start by figuring out what types of activities or interests you have in common with others at your complex. For example, book swaps, doggy play dates, ice cream socials and more! Just be creative and the list of ideas is endless.

Then, share you idea with your apartment manager and talk with them about logistics. Can you use the common spaces around the pool, grass or inside the clubhouse? Is there a community board where you can put a flyer to promote the club? If you feel comfortable with it, you may just have the club meet at your place so you don’t have to worry about time restraints or other rules.

If you aren’t creative or good at organizing, but would still like the sense of community that brings great relationships with your neighbors, keep reading.

What If You Don’t Want To Organize It?

Move in to a Hignell Rentals property that does it for you! There are several properties that have a team of caring people who organize activities and events to foster relationships with your neighbors. The Creating Caring Communities teams work hard to give residents fun, free and festive activities to do, such as BBQ’s, continental breakfasts, and movie nights.

Why should you get to know your neighbors?

Having great relationships with your neighbors has its perks. If somebody is being suspicious around your unit, you have a few extra sets of eyes to notice. Or if you needed help starting your car to make it to work on time, wouldn’t it be nice to have a personal relationship with your neighbor when you wake them up at 8 a.m. to help you out?
