Thanksgiving Decorating Tips For Chico and Redding Rental Properties

Written by Hignell Rentals Team | November 1, 2016

The holiday season brings so many beautiful things, such as joy, togetherness, fine food, cool weather and much more. But with all of the wonderful things, we can feel our wallets tightening up.

This can be tricky when it comes to seasonal decorations, which bring the holiday joy into our homes and are an integral tradition to many of us, but are not considered a practical expense.

Store bought decorations are expensive! Good thing there are creative ways to turn Chico and Redding apartments into warm and welcoming holiday hang outs. Here are a few decorating tips for Chico and Redding rental properties to get you ready for Thanksgiving.

1. Fill Jars With Fall Colored Items

Find jars in different shapes and sizes (check a thrift store!) and fill them with fall colored items. These can include coffee beans, sticks, beans, cinnamon sticks, etc. Use these to decorate your dinner table, coffee table, on your counter top and more! Just make sure that you don’t overdo it. These containers can also be used again for Christmas decorations.

2. Candles

Lighting candles not only sets a cozy mood, but can also bring a splash of color and delightful holiday scents to a room. Candles can be expensive but you can always find great deals if you know where to look, like the Dollar Store or Ross!

3. Slipcovers, Throw Blankets and Fluffy Pillows

You can change up any room in Chico or Redding rental properties by simply purchasing slipcovers for furniture to give it a new look. Add a comfy throw blanket and fluffy pillows to make those sitting areas enticing and a cozy place to keep warm.

4. Wreath on Your Front Door

Wreaths aren’t just for Christmas time and can be relatively inexpensive if you can make one! You could go for the harvest sunflower look, classic burlap and sticks for a blended holiday feel, or an all out country feel with checkered ribbon and straw! Use sticks, fake berries, orange ribbon and other similar items to give character to your front door and patio. Click here to learn how to make a fall-themed wreath that won’t break the bank.

5. Sticks and Leaves

One of the cheapest ways to make any area in your apartment ready for guests in the fall is adding sticks and leaves to your current décor. To prevent your leaves from drying out or attracting bugs, you can buy fake leaves that look just as good. Have a stack of decorative books next to your sofa? Add a bundle of twigs and leaves around the stack. Have a row of candles on your dinner table? Add those leaves for color. Cheap and easy!

Start with your local thrift store like The Arc Store or the Salvation Army for  materials to make your decorations. If you still need to go to the craft store, then make sure you go online or check your newspaper for any coupons. Michael’s, JoAnn’s, and Hobby Lobby have great coupons that you can use to help make your Thanksgiving decorations more affordable at Chico and Redding rental properties.

Use your creativity and remember that if it doesn’t look right, you can always change it up.
