This summer in Chico we would like to celebrate the warm joyful weather by giving back to the community with fun giveaways and free gifts. ## **Fun Summer Activities in Chico**** ** Living in Chico during the summer can be a blast. There are so many different activities to do all over the north state. Everything from swimming, hiking, disc golf, to looking at the stars and lounging on a houseboat.    The Chico News & Review posted [50 Things To Do In Chico When It's Dead](https://www.newsreview.com/chico/50-things-to-do-in-chico-when-its-dead/content?oid=326074). Here are a few of thier ideas:  ### **Take a Refreshing Dip in Upper Park** Head up to [Upper Park](https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=active&q=upper+park+chico+ca&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x808329d3134423ab:0x86115557d4d74d93,Upper+Park+Rd,+Chico,+CA&gl=us&ei=WUv3T7GrB4X-9QSQgqXjBg&sqi=2&ved=0CAUQ8gEwAA) and take a swim in Bear Hole, Brown’s Hole and Salmon Hole. You have to hike/bike/drive a little farther to get to Brown’s Hole, but you’ll find it less crowded than the other swimming spots. ### **Give Disc Golfing a Shot** The name pretty much says it all. It’s golf, but with a disc. Instead of a hole, there’s a pole. The one who takes the fewest throws to hit the poles wins. Oh, and the good news is it’s all free—you just have to have a disc (about 10 bucks at local sporting goods stores) and head to the course at Upper Bidwell Park. To get there, drive about 4.5 miles east of [Bruce Road on Highway 32](https://www.pdga.com/course-directory/course/peregrine-point-bidwell-park). Look for the dirt parking area on the north side of the highway with the green gate, and enter on the left side. ### **Chill at the Chico Observatory** The sky and every star in it are free … and so is the [Kiwanis Chico Community Observatory](http://www.chicoobservatory.com) in Upper Park. Having this place to magnify the universe for every Chicoan is undeniably cool, and now the staff is giving constellation tours outside in the new open-sky planetarium. The observatory is open on clear nights Thursday through Sunday; the planetarium is open every night. ### Hike to Feather Falls  This sixth-highest waterfall in the United States is breathtaking and worth both the drive and the challenging eight-mile round-trip hike it takes to get there. The falls crash through a granite chute and spill more than 600 feet below to the Middle Fork of the [Feather River](http://plumascounty.org/communities/featherriver.htm). If you pack in a picnic, the best place to enjoy it is in the meadow above the falls. Directions: From Highway 70 in Oroville, take Highway 162 east (Olive Hwy) for 6.7 miles. Turn right on Forbestown Road for 6.3 miles and left on Lumpkin Road for 11.4 miles to the marked entrance. Make sure to sign in and out at the trailhead. ### [Continue to Article](https://www.newsreview.com/chico/50-things-to-do-in-chico-when-its-dead/content?oid=326074)   For other activites to do in Chico check out our [Funner Than The Phonebook Directory](http://info.livinginchico.com/funner-than-the-phonebook-directory)! ![Funner-phonebook-longcta](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Funner-phonebook-longcta-Dec-16-2024-11-44-02-6848-PM.webp?width=600&name=Funner-phonebook-longcta-Dec-16-2024-11-44-02-6848-PM.webp) Share this Blog [![Share on facebook](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/facebook-icon.svg) ](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/summer-time-activities-while-living-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook) [![Share on twitter](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/twitter-icon.svg) ](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/summer-time-activities-while-living-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/summer-time-activities-while-living-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&source=tweetbutton&text=) [![Share on instagram](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/instagram-icon.svg) ](http://www.instagram.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/summer-time-activities-while-living-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram) [![Share on linkedin](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/linkedin-icon.svg) ](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/summer-time-activities-while-living-in-chico&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin) [![Share on whatsapp](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/whatsapp-icon.svg) ](https://web.whatsapp.com) [** Previous Post Previous Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/new-apartment-living-safety-checklist) [** View all posts ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/) [Next Post ** Next Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/sterling-oaks-apartment-living-at-its-finest) ## Recent Posts [![How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/How%20to%20Rent%20an%20Apartment%20in%20Chico%20or%20Redding%2c%20CA.jpg) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) ### [How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA Click to view How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [Learn More ** Click to view blog post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [![What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/What%20to%20Look%20for%20When%20Renting%20an%20Apartment%20Your%20Apartment%20Comparison%20Checklist.png) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) ### [What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist Click to view What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) Knowing what to look for when renting an apartment can make the difference between moving forward with...
