Mr. Rogers had it right, neighbors are important. And here at Living in Chico, we love our neighbors too! So much so that at our properties we have people who organize events that our residents are invited to in order to help create relationships with their neighbors.

Caring Communities

We want our residents to have great relationships with their neighbors and feel a sense of community. Creating Caring Communities is a non-profit program that we run at 6 of our properties. These Care Teams spend 15-20 hours a week organizing and planning activities, giving to fellow neighbors in need, or greeting people who are moving into the complex. These activities include movie nights, bbq’s, bingo night and more!

Pizza Party

Jared_and_Elisa_CroppedWhen walking into the Sterling Oaks Clubhouse, I was greeted by Jared and Elisa Rouse. They are the Care Team at Sterling Oaks and immediately began socializing with everybody who walked in the door to get their pizza, salad and cookies! The once quiet clubhouse quickly became loud with chatter and laughter.

Sterling Oaks averages 50-60 residents in attendance for its Creating Caring Communities events and this pizza event was no exception! The night started with 12 large pizzas and ended with a little salad left over. I enjoyed seeing relationships being nurtured on a Monday night.
