But what do you do when you must walk to an on-site laundry room or drive to a laundromat with a hamper full of clothes? These tips will help you start thinking out of the box when it comes to transporting your clothes when it’s raining.
There are various types of hampers that you can use not only to transport your laundry but also to keep it dry. Once you are done cleaning your laundry, a great way to keep your freshly dried clothes dry is to put them back in the hamper. Want to prevent wrinkling? Using plastic and flatter hampers (rather than the tall ones) can give you the space to either lay out your laundry flat to prevent wrinkles. You can even fold your laundry and place them in your hamper. Before you leave the laundromat either to walk back to your apartment or to walk to your mode of transportation, take a dry bath towel and drape it over your hamper to prevent rain from getting on your dry clothes.
Another great way to prevent your freshly cleaned clothes from getting wrinkly while you are packing your clothes for transportation is to use garment bags. This way, you can take your shirts, jackets, pants, etc., and hang them on your hangers and then slide the hangers in the garment bags. Your clothes will stay fresh, dry, and wrinkle free! Don’t want to take more than one trip with your clothes? Take your filled garment bag and lay it over your hamper to prevent the rain from getting your clothes wet.
Don’t have room for those pesky fluffy towels in your hamper? Grab a couple pillow cases to throw your towels in when they are dry. No need to waste precious hamper space with your towels. Don’t want to make a trip for just your towels? Use clothes pins or temporary clips to attach the pillow cases to the sides of the hamper for easy carry. You might look silly but hey, you will only have to make one trip.
A fool proof way to avoid your dry laundry getting wet from the rain is to not do your laundry when it’s raining. Look at the weather forecast and plan your trip to the laundromat around the rain. If it is at all possible, avoid doing laundry on those days. Or maybe you just need to run to the store and get a few new pairs of underwear to wear until there are clear enough skies to do laundry.
If you are trying to avoid doing laundry on a rainy day and the forecast calls for 30 days straight of rain, then there might be a chance that you will have to do your laundry. But try out these tips and see if they will work out for you and your laundry situation in Chico apartments. Good luck!
