This weekend there is just such an event taking place and it’s called Chico Palio. ## What is Chico Palio? Chico Palio is the official kick-off for [Artoberfest](http://www.friendsoftheartsupstate.org/artoberfest/), which is a month long **celebration of the arts and culture in Chico and Butte County.** The word “Palio” is the Italian word that refers to friendly competition between neighbors. The Palio di Siena event in Italy races real horses, but Chico Palio encourages community members to create their own race horses using recycled materials, papier-mache, or whatever they can come up with. Then teams “race” the horses in a **friendly competition** around Sycamore Field. The teams are made up of local businesses, non-profits, community organizations, religious groups, friends, and neighborhoods. You never know, there could even be a team made up of people who live in Chico rental properties! ## Where is Chico Palio? Chico Palio will be held **this Saturday, September 7 from Noon to 5 p.m. at One-Mile and Sycamore Field in Bidwell Park.** It’s supposed to be a beautiful, albeit slightly hotter, weekend, but that’s okay! There’s plenty of shade in the park, a creek nearby, and no doubt one of the vendors will be serving something cold and sweet. If you live in Chico rental properties **near Bidwell Park** walk on over, and if you aren’t within walking distance, jump in the car. There’s plenty of parking too. **Here’s the schedule of events:**  Noon** -**** **Special Dance Performance 12:15 - [Chico Community Ballet](http://chicocommunityballet.org/) 12:30 - [Chico Theatre Company](http://www.chicotheatercompany.com/) 1:00 - Tobin Roye (Classical Guitar Player) 2:00 - [PV Band Ensemble](http://pvhs.chicousd.org/) 2:30 - [Inspire School](http://www.inspirecusd.org/) 3:00 - Hannah Kile (Participant in KZFR's Celebration of the Song) 4:00 - [Reckoning](http://www.reckoningdeadgrass.com/) (Americana Bluegrass) 5:00 - Chico Palio Race 5:15 - [Thrill the World](http://thrilltheworldchico.wordpress.com/) ## Why You Should Go to Chico Palio You don’t have to be racing a horse or know anything about art to attend Chico Palio. All that is required is the **desire to have a good time** watching music and dance performances, viewing art exhibits, snacking on food, trying out an art activity, and gathering information about upcoming Artoberfest events. Chico Palio is a great way to be exposed to the art and cultural opportunities in Chico. ## Chico Palio’s goals include: - Supporting safe, creative opportunities for youth - Fostering attractive and livable neighborhoods and communities - Providing greater access to the arts for individuals, families and communities - Encouraging economic and community development ## Get Outside and Go! Those are some pretty great goals. Of course, we especially like the one about **fostering attractive and livable neighborhoods and communities** because that is also a goal we have for our Living in Chico rental properties. If you haven’t had the chance to take a virtual tour of our apartments, check them out [here](http://www.livinginchico.com/videos). We hope you get the chance to visit Chico Palio this weekend. Leave us a comment and let us know what you enjoyed about it! ***Related Articles:***  [Fun Things to Do Living in Chico Rental Properties Before Summer Ends ](http://blog.livinginchico.com/blog/bid/330159/Fun-Things-to-Do-Living-in-Chico-Rental-Properties-Before-Summer-Ends) [5 Reasons to Live in Chico Rental Properties Near Bidwell Park](http://blog.livinginchico.com/blog/bid/321652/5-Reasons-to-Live-in-Chico-Rental-Properties-Near-Bidwell-Park) Share this Blog [![Share on facebook](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/facebook-icon.svg) ](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/get-outside-of-your-chico-rental-properties-this-weekend-and-check-out-chico-palio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook) [![Share on twitter](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/twitter-icon.svg) ](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/get-outside-of-your-chico-rental-properties-this-weekend-and-check-out-chico-palio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/get-outside-of-your-chico-rental-properties-this-weekend-and-check-out-chico-palio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&source=tweetbutton&text=) [![Share on instagram](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/instagram-icon.svg) ](http://www.instagram.com/share.php?u=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/get-outside-of-your-chico-rental-properties-this-weekend-and-check-out-chico-palio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram) [![Share on linkedin](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/linkedin-icon.svg) ](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.hignellrentals.com/get-outside-of-your-chico-rental-properties-this-weekend-and-check-out-chico-palio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin) [![Share on whatsapp](https://fs.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/4172253/OneTheme/social-icons/whatsapp-icon.svg) ](https://web.whatsapp.com) [** Previous Post Previous Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/new-apartment-living-safety-checklist) [** View all posts ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/) [Next Post ** Next Post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/sterling-oaks-apartment-living-at-its-finest) ## Recent Posts [![How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/How%20to%20Rent%20an%20Apartment%20in%20Chico%20or%20Redding%2c%20CA.jpg) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) ### [How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA Click to view How to Rent an Apartment in Chico or Redding, CA](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [Learn More ** Click to view blog post ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/how-to-rent-an-apartment) [![What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist-featured-image](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/hubfs/Blog%20Images/What%20to%20Look%20for%20When%20Renting%20an%20Apartment%20Your%20Apartment%20Comparison%20Checklist.png) ](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) ### [What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist Click to view What to Look for When Renting an Apartment: Your Apartment Comparison Checklist](https://blog.hignellrentals.com/what-to-look-for-when-renting-an-apartment-comparison-checklist) Knowing what to look for when renting an apartment can make the difference between moving forward with...
